Nowadays, the maker world is primarily in English. Many websites and projects only use English. So, let’s study maker English! We are beginning a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) themed English conversation class. For now, we will have a Beginner and Advanced class. Let’s learn English that you can actually use at work and for your hobby!
Classes are limited to 5 people, so please email us soon.
If a class becomes full, we will start a new class.
If you’d like to know more, please check the Event Calendar.
Today is our first day of normal working hours. We’re still sorting through things, and trying to get our computer systems in order, but we can start accepting customers. If you have any questions please ask. We’ll help you find any tools you need until we are finally well organized. The 3D printer will be online from this evening, but the CNC will need a bit of work before it is going. Expect it to be running in a day or two. The woodworking and metalworking area is still a little messy, but it’s ready for use. Electronics equipment is also ready for use. We hope to see you soon!
Guess who’s coming to Nipponbashi! That’s right! We’ve finally found a space! We still have a lot of work to do before we can open, but we’re aiming for April. We’ll try to have some MeetUp meetings before then, so feel free to join our group and come have a sneak peak or help out with the renovations and design. We’re a makerspace after all. It’s all about community and learning together.
For now, click on “Access” in the menu on the right for a map of where we will soon be located.
See you soon!
Welcome to the future Osaka Makers website. This website will give information on the Osaka Makers’ Space and Osaka Makers MeetUp.
Osaka Makers’ Space is a project started by John Daniels and Ryan Carlson. We will provide a workspace, access to tools of all kinds, and knowledge of their use to our members. We believe that knowledge should be free. Unfortunately space rental, tool upkeep, and cost of living are not. We hope to charge a reasonable fee to enable our love of making and free information. Our designs and projects will be available online for free for all people. We strongly support Open Source Software and Hardware. We will also have free events for anyone to join, such as hosting Osaka Makers MeetUps and open house events. Eventually, we’ll even have our own version of a maker festival for our members and members of the community to showcase their designs and encourage the maker movement to take root more firmly in Japan.
Osaka Makers MeetUp is a group of makers who meet and socialize as well as work on projects together. We meet as often as possible, but sometimes life gets in the way. When a project is in full swing, we tend to meet every two weeks. In the near future, we will meet at Osaka Makers’ Space and by virtue of having our own dedicated space, we will be able to meet more regularly. You can find out more information over at: https://www.meetup.com/Osaka-Makers/
